Walking with Stride Rite

We bought some walking shoes for Jonathan yesterday. He loves them! We went to Avenue Kids, and they fitted him for shoes...just like the old days. This morning he saw them and wanted to put them on..with his pajamas! (These picutures are for you, Nonna!!!)

First Steps

On Monday evening Jonathan took his first steps by himself! I was at workout so I didn't get to see his first steps, but Ryan did! I did get to see him walking when I got home! Finally after 16 mos. Jonathan is taking steps by himself! We are so thankful!!! We caught some of his walking on video. (Mrs. Patsy, Jonathan's PT, came on Monday morning to work with him. By evening, he was walking--way to go Mrs. Patsy!!!!)

Lazy Bones

"All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well."
-Julian of Norwich

I caught Jonathan relaxing in his bed after waking up after his nap yesterday. He did have his thumb in his mouth, but when we saw the camera he got excited and forgot to leave it there! Notice the feet propped up on the side of his bed--he's learning how to really relax like his daddy!

Up on the mountain...

We went to Mt. Nebo in Arkansas this past weekend. It was very, very cold and windy. Unfortunately Jonathan got a stuffy/runny nose while we were gone so he didn't sleep well during the night. He didn't seem to let that stop him from having a fun time during the day. He enjoyed being pulled around in the wagon, swinging at the playground, and crawling everywhere in the house we stayed in. We had a really nice time up on the mountain.

Put one foot in front of the other...

Saturday we went to Papa Joe and SAL's house to watch the LSU game. The game was disappointing, but Jonathan had a good time walking with the walker. Uncle Jamie and Aunt Heather gave it to him for his 1st birthday. He was really getting around with it! (Thanks Jamie and Heather!) Family friends, Marvin and Judy, were there for the weekend, too. We tell them that when they come Jonathan reaches a new milestone. The last time they visited, Jonathan started crawling. This time he started walking with the walker! Come back soon, Marvin and Judy!

Cloth Diapers

We have been cloth diapering for the past month, and I must say that I absolutely love it! It really is easy, and I have learned so much. Sure it is nice to be a little green, but I did it because I was so tired of paying for disposables. Love, love, love our Bumgenius cloth diapers!

(If anybody is interested check out one of my favorite links--The Cloth Diaper Whisperer. Kelly Wels is the owner of kellyscloset.com . She has a world of information on cloth diapers including how to cloth diaper when your baby is in daycare. She has many different kinds of cloth diapers to choose from and great prices. Check out her website and blog.)

Avalon Fall Festival

Avalon had a Fall Festival for the residents and their families on Tuesday. We took Jonathan to see Nana and Pa. He had the best time. Nana and Pa looked super in their costumes! The whole family was there to enjoy the festivities.

John Deere Fun

Last weekend we did some yard work. Ryan mowed the yard. It looks great by the way! Jonathan wanted to help so Ryan took him for a ride on the John Deere. He had so much fun. Afterwards he got to sit on a bail of pine straw at Aunt Lara's house. Yard work is as the word says...work...but we had a lot fun. It feels good to accomplish something useful!

Never thought I would be here....

Ok. So here I am blogging. Never thought I would be doing this. In fact I was adamantly against it! I barely have enough time to live my life much less write about it! But here I am living and writing to what seems like an audience of outer space. Oh well. Maybe I can vent from time to time...maybe. Or just simply share a few vignettes of my small little world I call home.
